Never underestimate community involvement.

12 March 2013 – Jo Ann Hardesty gives an informal address on contemporary police accountability efforts in Portland, Oregon. Community members had been called together by the McKenzie River Gathering Foundation, a philanthropy which, since 1976, has been pooling money raised in Oregon’s progressive community … and distributing it onward to grassroots groups, generally in early stages of those groups’ development.

After disclosing her experience in this area, and framing a conversation for ten minutes, Jo Ann responds to community concerns for a half hour.
